World and people in it are changing faster than ever before. This creates big challenges for food production in the future. To guarantee wellbeing of future generations we need more advanced methods and equipment. Tractors as versatile machines have been playing a key role in this progress and we believe this will continue also in the future.

What is your vision for tractor in 2040?

This year 133 competing teams and design concepts, from 41 different countries and 5 continents presented their visions. The winners have now been selected and announced at Valtra’s international press conference in Holland, May 31st.

Show us what is your vision for tractor in 2040. How they will look, feel and function? How they will keep us fed and make running of farms exciting and rewarding? How they are intuitive and easy to use and make things happen more efficiently and environmentally than today?

Who can participate

Participation is free of charge and competition is open for individuals or teams (up to three members). Designers, academic design studios, design studios and automotive suppliers are welcome to apply!

Valtra Design Challenge is not open to anyone working on this project or employees of Valtra, its parent, affiliates and subsidiaries, distributors, suppliers, agents, representatives, advertising, promotional or judging agencies, authorized Valtra dealers and distributors or their family members.

By participating entrants agree to follow the Rules and Procedures of this challenge. The decisions of Valtra and the Valtra Design Challenge Jury shall be final. Any entries or displays may be withdrawn or declined at any time for any reason.

Entrants must include all data and information that is accurate and complete and fulfill all requirements as required.

How to enter

  • Participation is free of charge.
  • Registration is required.
  • Entries via internet:
    Visit and complete and submit the online Valtra Design Challenge Entry Form with all accompanying required materials.
  • Entry forms must be accompanied by photographs, drawings and/or computer-generated images (max. 6 pcs per submission).
  • Incomplete entry forms are subject to disqualification.

Winners will be announced (3 finalists) at Valtra International Press conference in The Netherlands 31.5.2017.  Valtra covers travel and accommodation expenses for one person of each team.

Winners will be eligible for recognition on the Valtra Design Challenge website as well as Valtra displays and events. All prizes are paid gross/before income tax. Prizes are non-transferable. The winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to the acceptance of the prize.
